In our modern society, it‘s rare to receive a handwritten message in the mail. In this episode, Franziska shares the postcard challenge with you, an easy and simple, yet super effective challenge!

Franziska: Hi and welcome back! Today, I would like to share with you the postcard challenge. This is a challenge that we do throughout the Clever Bunch, our 12 months‘ program. It‘s one of the strategies that is so simple, so easy to do, yet it is so effective. The results that our members get here are incredible when they actually do the challenge.

So here‘s how it works. So, as you know, in today‘s age we get a lot of emails and we get a lot of connections online. In the real physical world where we live, we don‘t get a lot of mail anymore. When you go to the mailbox, normally, there‘s not that much there. So the postcard challenge is a challenge where you actually do send something in the mail. You send a postcard.

So the strategy goes like this. You either buy some postcards that are already ready-made or if you can get one designed, even better. Now, the most important thing is when you get it designed is don‘t have your logo huge on the front. It‘s just subtle. Because this challenge is not about pushing your brand onto people. It‘s about sending something that people would keep. like sending something to a friend. So the logo can be really small. What we often do with our postcards, this is our ones for the branding agency, The Business Hood. We have a quote here, and then a nice image. So this is a card that people would probably keep if they get inspired by the quote. So you get your cards designed first, or if you don‘t have time to get then designed, just buy some really nice cards.

Then what you do is every week, for a month, and then hopefully forever after, but for now, every week for 30 days, you‘re going to send out 10 postcards to 10 people. So you handwrite, yeah, I know handwrite, you handwrite postcards to 10 people per week for at least a month. Now, who do you send this to? You send this to anyone that comes to mind. This can be prospects, this can be current customers, this can be past customers.

And what‘s the message? So what do you write? You just write a message that is relevant to this person. So it could be something like, “hey, Franziska, I really love your Basic Bananas tips here on this show. Thank you for doing that.” That could be one of your postcards. We‘ll put the address, the mailing address below. It can be for a customer wherein you say, “hey, we really loved working with you. Thank you so much for doing business with us.” It can be to a past customer that you know something about and you can say, “hey, I just wanted to check in with you. How is your soccer game going?” Whatever it is, make it personal, make it handwritten. What we do is, we actually put them into an envelope, an envelope that has the colour of the brand, of your brand. For us, it‘s yellow. Then put it in and you handwrite the address in there. Put a stamp on there. This is going to cost a dollar usually in Australia for shipping, maybe a dollar to get the card printed maximum.

The impact that this will make is huge. We have members, I remember a few examples. One was an interior design business and she has done at this campaign before Christmas for 4 weeks. She said January she has never been this busy. Normally, January is quieter for her. She said in January she was so busy because people got reminded of her business. It wasn‘t flogging the business. This is not about flogging your business. This is about touching base with people and being thoughtful.

So I would love to encourage you to do this challenge. If you know someone who would benefit from hearing this and this strategy, feel free to share the video. As always, thank you for being here. Thank you for watching and I will see you next time.
