00:57 Second method

01:54 Third method

Christo: Let‘s look at 3 ways for you to gain credibility in your market, basically.

So, the most common way which people try to gain credibility and build trust with their audience is by telling people how fantastic they are. So the most marketing that‘s out there, first way would be:

“We‘re fantastic, buy from us!” or “Our products‘ fantastic or our ingredients are fantastic or our materials..”
Or “we‘ve been in business for this long” or “I‘m an expert because of this and this and this.”

It‘s basically, me the business talk about me how fantastic I am. Now, this is the most common way people tend to market and the least trusted way that people, the least trusted method by from your audience or basically for your customers.

So the second way which will gain a bit more trust, so we want to do a bit of that but not too much and that‘s not the only way we want to market ourselves. Number two is others saying how fantastic you are. So through social proof. Now, this could be through things like testimonials or reviews, asking for reviews, or you might have won a business award. You put that stamp on your marketing. Or it could be that you are part of an association or you have a membership of an association or an accreditation of some kind. You put that stamp in your marketing. It could be people saying something nice about you on social media. So you screenshot it, you save it, you file it. You could use that in your marketing down the track. Basically, anywhere where someone else says, you‘re alright, it‘s not just you saying you’re fantastic. This is one of the really great advantages of social media as well. The fact that social media is like an open forum where people can say whatever they like about your business, it‘s really a cool way to gain social proof as well.

The third way to gain this credibility, the third method is by demonstrating. So in certain industries, you‘ll be able to show people how fantastic you are or how skilled you are or how knowledgeable you are. Now, this could be through writing articles, it could be through doing video tips like what I am doing here now with you, it could be through a podcast episode, you can create your own podcast. It could be articles on social media platforms like LinkedIn and sharing, you know, valuable tips and tricks with your audience. There are newsletters and things like that. So that‘s demonstration. Some of you demonstrating you might be able to do it through trials or taste test or a free consult or a sample of some kind. So, basically, showing.

So it‘s the three methods. You do want to make a combination of all three wherever you can. It‘s saying yourself how fantastic you are, others saying how fantastic you are and showing, basically demonstrating how fantastic you are. So using those methods wherever you can to build credibility and build trust with your audience so they‘re going to look to you as a trusted adviser, not just someone banging on about how fantastic they are without any real trust or anything behind it. So, definitely look to use these three methods wherever you can.
