Franziska: No, no, no, no, no. You do not want to be vanilla. Being vanilla is just a big mistake. Really? I love vanilla. Vanilla is one of my favorite flavors but when it comes to business, you don’t want to be vanilla because then you won’t stand out. You want to be a more crazy exotic flavor, maybe mango? You want to be a mango flavor? Banana. I reckon banana is a good flavor to be, able to stand out. Now, a lot of businesses choose to be vanilla because it’s just easy to blend in and not to stand out. That’s also what we call, sometimes, a copycat. A copycat is somebody who does exactly what everybody else is doing. It’s a big no, no, no.

Christo: So what do we want to be instead of being that vanilla that Miss No No spoke about? We obviously want to be something different in the market. If everybody is popping each other, doing that copycat thing that you mentioned in terms of their marketing, well then no businesses really stand out. So you don’t have to be a kind of copycat. You can do different marketing. You don’t have to get dressed up like a weirdo but you can obviously make your business stand out in different ways. Now, if you look at your market, you might stand out in your industry by being more professional. You might stand out by being something, by being yourself, by having fun, depending on you. If it’s you behind the business or if it’s a business that stay on the line, you’re not the kind of figurehead behind the business, you can look at the business and how you get to position it in terms of branding, in terms of positioning in the market, where is it positioned, and in terms of all your marketing material. What tends to happen is, as Miss No No mentioned, is when people go to market, they look at the competitors marketing and so what happens is they get the audience of how to market and how to position their business in the market from the competitors and end up copying each other. So, basically we want to be able to stand out and be something different in our industry so that our business props, people take notice of it because that’s what we all want. We all want to deal with different things, not exactly the same. So, be yourself, have fun and stand out.

So is that okay, Miss No No?
