In this video, Christo Hall explains the top things you need on a website homepage to generate more sales and increase trust with your viewers faster.

There are so many different things you can include on a website homepage, so you should use this like a checklist of things to have on your home page, no matter what the design layout is, just do your best to include as many of these ideas as possible.

The homepage is usually your most highly visited page on your website and the first impression people get of your business, it‘s like your shop front, so you not only want it to look good, it‘s got to work for you from a marketing perspective.

Christo: A common question we get asked here at Basic Bananas all the time is what to include on a website homepage now the home page is very important, obviously because that’s the first place people land and it’s kind of like your shopfront online. There are lots of variables in terms of what your website what your style of business is and what things would recommend in regards to that but some general things would say to include on every website homepage are: think about the number one action you want people to take when they land on your website if the number one thing you want them to do is, say book a quote with you for example. Then you’d want to have “book a quote” crystal-clear on the homepage so people can kind of move down that pathway with zero friction. If you want them to book a meeting with you, you’d have booked a meeting there on the homepage; if you have a best-selling product, put that on the homepage. Another one I like to consider putting on the homepage is also the most lucrative thing you can sell so what’s the thing you can sell that has the best margins you make the most money if you sell that thing you’d want that. But the most common and number one action and you’d also want the most lucrative clear on the homepage if that works for you if it works in terms of design they’re ideal things you’d want to have on there but definitely that number one action you want people to take should be on the homepage also in the header you should have your phone number make it easy for people to contact you the purpose of the business is to generate inquire is like the website all your marketing activities to generate enquiries so the phone number should be sitting in the header so people can find it really easily. And a good little kind of ninja tip on that one is the text should be kind of text overlay not embedded in an image what that means is if people are on mobile, the mobile will pick up that it’s text so what it means is people can just kind of click on the text it’ll pop up and say call, and they can call you easily so make it really easy for people to call if they have to click around on a mobile trying to find the contact page and then the text and trying to copy the text out into the phone kind of calling area, it’s a bit finicky, a bit fiddly, so make it easy for people to get in touch. And also, think about social proof so things like testimonials on the homepage reviews maybe you’ve got an association membership or an accreditation maybe you’ve got media mentions like as seen the media could be a business award you have that stamp sitting there on the homepage. So a bit of credibility, a bit of social proof, other people saying that you’re alright. It could be as straightforward as some people have said some nice comments on social media you could screenshot those comments and you could pop those on there as like images of the comments on your homepage so good things to include there as well also just make it easy for navigate it like easy for people to navigate also to your products and services and also to your About Us page oftentimes, we look at websites and it’s just kind of confusing to know trying to work out what to do now obviously you want people to be able to find your products and services really easily so they moved towards sales but also, your About Us page should be easy to find whether you call it team or about us it’s a very important page because mostly people want to go to that page to see who you are before they’ll get in touch with you before they’ll proceed with you; so very important page to build trust so make sure it’s easy to find that about Us page so there’s a few tips that are thrown at you today which you can basically you know pretty much I’m sure you could apply to just about any website have a look at what you’ve got see if you can apply those things.
