Franziska: Hi and welcome back to Basic Bananas TV. I thought I’d share something with you in this tape that happened earlier this week. I was running some of our workshops, clever bunch workshops and after the session one of our members came up to me and he said, “Franziska, can I ask you something” and I said, “of course”. He said, “well, I’ve got this competitor and he is saying bad things about us. He’s basically bagging us”. He proceeded to say, “So Franziska, how can I get him back? How can I get them back”? I said, “well you don’t. You don’t need to get them back cause rather than using our focus and energy on trying to get someone maybe we can use that energy to improve. To be better. To be more amazing. To provide an even more amazing business. Or even just to grow our business because the person that is bagging or bad mouthing, it doesn’t make them look good”. Whenever someone is bagging or bad mouthing someone else in business or in life, it’s never going to make them look good. If you think about it, it probably comes from a little bit of a mindset of scarcity and maybe even fear.
I see it sometimes also on social media where some businesses put videos and content up that basically is bagging their industry or their competitors and it never looks good. It just doesn’t leave a good energy or good taste behind. It’s a little bit sad. It’s almost a bit of a shame for that person or that business because it doesn’t help them. It really doesn’t help anyone. Usually what I say when people are worried about it or are basically bad mouthing others, I say, maybe just stand above and beyond that behaviour. I guess it is a behaviour. Stand above and beyond it and rather than focusing on that, focus on the good things. Focus on your business. Focus on adding more value. I also believe that the future of business, the future of really entrepreneurship is in collaboration. It’s in collaborating. It’s not in fighting against each other. It’s not in bagging or bad mouthing other people. It’s in collaborating. It’s in lifting each other up. It’s in supporting each other. That’s what I believe is the future of business. I thought I’d share this with you because it was current and pertinent this week and I hope you find it valuable.
