Franziska: Hi and welcome back. My name is Franziska Iseli and I‘m one of the founders here at Basic Bananas.
I had a really interesting conversation yesterday with a business owner who is one of our members here at the Clever Bunch. The conversation we had was around whether she was in the right business. It made me think about this question. You know there are questions in life that we just don‘t ask ourselves, or that maybe people don‘t ever ask us because they might be challenging. One of these questions is definitely, “are you in the right business?”
I definitely found, with this person, this is a really beautiful business person who runs a point of sell company. From the very beginning. when I first met her, 5 or 6 months ago, I definitely found that there is no connection to her business. There was a little bit of flatness, no passion. Finally, after a few months, she actually said to me, “I don‘t think I like what I do.”
So we had a conversation around what can we do? What can be changed? Now, maybe ask yourself also, are you in the right business? Does your business bring you pleasure? If not, what can you change?
So for her, we had different options that we discussed. One could be to sell the company, and to do that you can also work with a business broker. They can help you put together a deal and then sell the business for you. They take a percentage. Or keep the company and get someone else to run it for you. So you step out. Or thirdly, change something within the company and maybe work on tasks that you actually enjoy doing. So there are always different options. Now, for you, maybe also think about, are you enjoying your business? If you say yes, then of course, keep going and do what you‘re doing. If you think, no, actually I have been so flat for the last decade, I really don‘t like my business, then maybe you can change something. You don‘t have to go tabula rasa or you don‘t have to give up everything and then start from scratch. Maybe, you can keep this still going and as this company‘s giving you revenue, maybe you can build something else up.
Thank you so much again for watching. If you know someone who needs to hear this message, please share it with them and remember to create ripple effects everywhere we go.
