Video marketing is one of the best marketing tools to help you build trust and add value as a business owner! However, most business owners fear watching themselves on a camera and that‘s such a shame. In this BBTV, Franziska Iseli shares five tips to help you overcome your fear and be more engaging on camera!

(1:18) Be kind to yourself

(1:39) Be authentic

(2:03) Don‘t worry

(2:37) Don‘t rewatch

(2:58) Make an impact

Franziska: Hi and welcome back! I just spoke to one of these brilliant business women here at our Blast-Off marketing workshop. This gorgeous woman told me that she would love to do more video marketing but she really doesn‘t like watching herself after on the video. That‘s a really shame because using videos is such a great way to engage with your audience, and also to build trust and to add value. So it made me think about how you could potentially overcome this feeling of cringe-worthiness when you watch yourself because she actually said that often, she doesn‘t use the videos because she doesn‘t like watching herself. But when she does use them and she does send them to her audience, people really love watching them.

So it made me think about 5 things that you can do if you maybe would love to do more video marketing because it is so beneficial but maybe you just don‘t feel comfortable or you don‘t feel like you can do it because I know you can.

So I want to give you 5 things you can do that might help you overcome that feeling of maybe where you think that I can‘t do this or I don‘t like watching myself.

So the first one is to be kind to yourself because I know it can feel weird to re-watch or even re-listen to your own audio or video. I get that, too. Sometimes when I listen to the podcast, “Pick of the Bunch”, I don‘t somewhat think that this is how I sound when I record it, but it‘s completely normal.

The second one is to just be completely real, raw and authentic because we all stuff up and if you‘ve watched this long enough, you‘ve seen me stuff up a few times on these videos. We don‘t even cut them out. Oli, who is behind the camera here right now, he often just leaves my stuff up scenes because it doesn‘t have to be completely super polished because it makes you more approachable.

Number 3 is don‘t worry too much about what you haven‘t said. I know for myself. I remember when I first started to do workshops and trainings, sometimes I would get off stage and then I do a speaking engagement, for example. I would get off and then I would remember all the things that I forgot to say and I would think, “oh, I just forgot to say this and this.” But the thing is, your audience doesn‘t know what you were going to say. So it doesn‘t really matter as long as you‘re fully present and you‘re giving everything you can in that moment. It‘s all good because they don‘t know what you were going to say.

Number 4 is don‘t watch back your videos if you don‘t like watching yourself. If you do watch them, just give yourself love and kindness. But if you don‘t like watching your own videos, I don‘t actually watch these videos back because I know that your film crew here has this all under control. So I trust what they are doing.

Number 5 is just focus on making an impact. If you always focus on adding value and making an impact, then you know that these videos will actually really create ripple effects. Hopefully, that is what you are doing out there. Because when you add more value, of course, your prospects and your customers will find you attractive and will come to your business.

So, I trust this is useful. If you do want to create more ripple effects and know anyone who would benefit from this tip or anyone who maybe is a little bit shy in front of the camera, this might really be helpful for them. If you want to share it with them, that would be amazing. I can‘t wait to see you next time.
