Franziska: Hi there and welcome back!
Today, I want to talk to you a little bit about something that has been coming up a lot lately with different entrepreneurs here at Basic Bananas and that is our belief systems.
Now, we all have our very own, unique, special belief system. Some of our belief systems are supporting us to achieve what we set out to achieve. Some of our belief systems or some of our specific beliefs not so much. Now, we all shape the majority of our belief system is being shaped when we are quite young, in our childhood, based on our experiences, based on our relationships with people and based on who we hang out with.
The good news is that we can reshape our belief system. We can be aware of which beliefs are supporting us in achieving what we want to achieve and which ones are not. It‘s actually pretty cool to be conscious about these beliefs.
So the first step here is to be aware of these beliefs. Be aware of which beliefs are supporting you, which ones not so much so that you can then change them. So I know, for example, when I think about some of my beliefs, and this is just a minuscule one, every time I run a workshop or I speak somewhere or run a Blast-Off Marketing session, you might have been to some of those, I get there and I have a belief that I stuff up electronics. I have a belief that I basically break, not computers, but I have a belief that normally, when I run a workshop, a half day workshop, the video might not be working or the sound or the music is not working. Of course, what do you think happens? Of course, it won‘t work suddenly because I have that belief. So I reframed it. I reframed that one belief and said, hey, I am really good at getting this electronical, technical stuff sorted all by myself. So now I have this belief and it‘s gotten already better. Things don‘t always break so much. Maybe, I‘m still working on it.
Another positive belief will be, I have a belief that I am good at leading people and I‘m good at influencing people to make an impact. So that‘s another belief that is more empowering. So the first step is to be aware of your beliefs.
Second step is to then decide which new beliefs you want to adopt. I have this practice that I am going to share with you. It‘s a little bit of a private practice. What I do at the beginning of every year, I have this journal. Usually, I have a journal for the year. I just use it to write down ideas or anything that comes to mind, I write down. At the beginning of the year, I write down my values in my life. What are my key values? I also write down what are beliefs that I want to adopt. So what are core beliefs that I want to adopt? So this year, there was one sentence that I wrote, I remember on the beliefs, it says, “I am an alchemist. Everything that I touch turns to gold.” So I want to believe that.
The first step is being aware. The second step is choosing some beliefs you want to adopt and writing them down. Then the third step is practicing them. So reading them, practicing them, believing them. The funny thing is, recently, I was here at Basic Bananas and one of my team members, she just said, I don‘t remember the circumstances, but she said, “Franziska, everything you touch turns to gold.” I never shared with her that I had this belief written down a few months earlier. It must have been, of course, because I have been practicing this belief.
So, it‘s really important for you, of course, when you run a business, you do need beliefs that support you in running a successful business. As you know, running a business is a roller coaster and you need good beliefs to get you through the ups and downs and to help you to use the right strategies to grow your company and to be an amazing leader.
So I thought I‘d share this with you. If you know someone who would benefit from hearing this and understanding that you can shape and reshape a belief system. Some take longer to kick than others. We all have the ability to kick some of our beliefs that are disempowering. If you know someone who would benefit, please share it with them.
As always, thank you so much for being here. Thank you so much for helping us make ripple effects because that‘s really what makes us happy here. So thanks and see you next time.
