Christo: Welcome back to Basic Bananas TV! In this video tip, I want to share with you some ways to be more efficient with your time, and it’ll help reduce procrastination, reduce distractions and a couple of things to consider are… because our time is obviously, it’s limited every single day there’s a ceiling on what you can possibly get done every single day. So a few tips for you to implement: Stop checking emails over and over. If you find yourself going back to your inbox and glancing over the inbox, it’s like every time you see emails that you haven’t actioned yet, they kind of drain your energy a little bit, and that the inbox is a real “time thief,” you could lose time so badly in the inbox. So set times when you check the emails when you’re not in the inbox don’t go back to it and keep checking it over and over. Another tip… Tip number two for this video is turn off notifications. If you’ve got notifications set up, on your mobile phone, on your computer, if you’re getting pop-ups, turn off all notifications. I recommend on your mobile phones, have all notifications turned off except for your text messages and your phone, so if family or loved ones are calling you they’ll still get through. But tell them to text, not Facebook message and things. Turn off all notifications as possible to make sure you’re not getting distracted all the time. Also, batching tasks is a good idea, so batching similar tasks. Like if you need to do a few phone calls in the day, while you’re doing your focused work if an idea comes to mind, ‘I have to call someone,’ you write it on the notepad side of your page, so you know you’re not going to forget it, on a piece of paper or whatever and then you come back to it later and you might go, “All right, now I’ll go for a walk around the block, do some exercise and I’ll make all of the phone calls in one go,” or “I’m going to go and work through the inbox and do the emails at some point.” Go and work through them all. And as a general rule, if something’s going to take under two minutes to complete, do it there and then. It’s like, make yourself do it there and then. Because if it’s a quick task to get done, if it’s only going to take two minutes but you look at it, it kind of drains your energy and then you look at it again, and again, and again, again, you could have just done it. If something takes less than two minutes to deal with, do it on the spot if possible, always a good way to go. So there you go, a few tips to be more effective with today’s video.
