Franziska: Hi and welcome back! This is video 3 in a 4-part series where I take you through the Culture Matrix™ to help you create an incredibly engaged, motivated, and aligned team. And in the first video, I shared with you a few questions you can ask to do Culture Pulse Checks with your team. In the second video, we looked at how to review this information and then how to come up with a Culture Code. Now in the third video, I’m going to share with you how to put together a Culture Book, and even more excitingly, I’m going to now show you behind the scenes and I’ll show you how our Culture Book looks like at Basic Bananas, so you have a little bit of inspiration and as always, ask us for questions if you need help with putting together something like this, get in touch too. So let’s now jump on my computer and I’ll show you a few pages of our own Culture Book for inspiration.
Here’s our Basic Bananas Culture Book, and I would love to show you real quick a little bit how it looks. We normally use this for our team, obviously, they all have their own book and then also when onboarding new team members. But I’m happy to show you a little sneak peek here just so you can get inspired and as always if you need help with one, get in touch with us and we can also help you, just email [email protected]. So I’ll just quickly scroll through the latest version here. We obviously have the index page, what’s included, and then we do a little welcome to the team, and setting the tone about why culture is important and what culture is, and then we also~ our book has a lot of images because it really just captures the team spirit and gives the feeling of the team and the culture here. And then just design-wise, obviously it’s aligned with our brand strategy so very much in line with how we created our brand and the same would be applicable to your book too, is you would, of course, have a brand strategy first. Again, we can help you with that and then roll it out across everything you do, including your Culture Book. Here we have a page about what Basic Bananas does according to team members. So we asked our team members to give us in their own words, a descriptor of Basic Bananas and then more images of us doing different events, and being in the media a little bit about our customers, who they are and then again photos about our adventures, team retreats, and then here are pages about our offerings. So again, if it’s for a new team member or a newer team member, they can come back here and they can see what are our main offerings, what are our flagship programs, Clever Bunch, Genius Bunch, which is once they graduate from Clever Bunch, and then we talk about the purpose of the business, so what’s our purpose and why is it important, our purpose, and more images capturing our team, the essence of our team, then our values, so we highlight the values, what do they mean. And then we also did another survey with the team asking them what makes a great Basic Bananas member, so what makes a great banana. And again, this is a summary of what other our members said about being a Basic Bananas team member, and it’s a great reflection of how we set out the culture and what we wanted to be, like fun and upbeat, creative, honest, super-nice, driven, positive. Images here—we have actually a page of images with babies our some of our kids here, our Basic Bananas kids and also doggies, very cute, and cats. And then we also asked the team, “What’s your favourite thing about Basic Bananas?”, so again this is what they said. Then here we have a section about the team structure and the perks. What are some of the perks of being part of Basic Bananas, and how do we communicate, then also here we have the team principles, so what are our team principles, what do we believe in, and how do we act, so use your best judgment, being proactive, making mistakes. So those are our team principles— always responding with kindness. And then our code of conduct, so those are the behaviours—how do you behave, how do you not behave. So what are some behaviours and non-behaviours, and then also our vocabulary—so how do we talk. What are some of the~ what’s the communication that we use, and then what are some things we don’t do—we don’t do long meetings, we don’t gossip, we don’t discriminate, and then lastly, Frequently Asked Questions. Again, these are in line with our culture and with our brand strategy. So they’re playful, they’re fun and light-hearted, and then the last page is just how to look us up more, and then more photos. And then we do have an annex, also we have our brand strategy, which we have attached, but you don’t need that necessarily, but we do have our brand strategy attached here at the end. But you can pretty much finish your book on this page here. So I hope this is super helpful, as I mentioned, if you need help with this, get in touch please, we can help you, our agency, our branding agency does a lot of these books for people, including helping companies come up with their culture, with their principles, with their behaviours, etc., so happy to help. So send us an email, or give us a call.
I hope you liked a little bit of a behind the scenes here into our own Culture Book and you probably can see already how a lot of the things you have seen in our Culture Book is very much reflected in how we show up and how we interact with you and how you know us because it’s part of our culture principles and culture code. So hopefully you love this, and as always if you need help with anything, just reach out. We are super excited to have you here. In the next video, I will share with you the last one of four. I will share with you how to roll out your Culture Book, and your culture principles across your business.
