Christo: Hey there and welcome back! In this video tip, I‘m here with Val from Basic Bananas USA and she is a kick-ass marketer. So, we want to pick her brains on this episode around the importance of a tagline and how we can get started with creating a kick-ass tagline. So what do you reckon? What is the importance of it in the first place?

Val: Yeah. Well, a tagline is a great way to show some personality and to inform potential clients of what you actually do. Especially, if your business name is something like a “Blast” name or something like that where they might not know right away. A great way just to start is just to explain who you are and what do you do? So with Basic Bananas, we have Basic Bananas, small business marketing made simple. It‘s a really easy way just to show exactly what we do but then also we have the bananas. So it keeps it kind of crazy.

Christo: There‘s personality in there, too. And the importance on that one is like when we flipped it around if the business name was not like something abstract. Like if the business name was small business marketing worldwide or something like that, then the tagline could be personality-based. Obviously, like we could say, “efficient and fun and results-driven” or something like that. So, it‘s very important. That‘s a good way to get started.

We‘re just workshop-ing this week with our Clever Bunch members here in the Sydney workshops and a lot of them are like, “how do I get started?”. So it‘s a great way to do it. Like what is it and then just write it. Plain as day and then you can sexy it up.

Val: Yeah, use a Thesaurus, find some fun words and see what other people in this base our doing and just really make it unique for you.

Christo: Nice. There we go. That‘s a good way to get started. It‘s super-duper important because it‘s the most seen part often of your business ever. It‘s the name and the tagline. So you want to make sure people get it the second they see it so hopefully, they pick up the phone or click the link or read the next line or open the brochure or whatever it is on. Awesome!
