Franziska: Hi and welcome back! Today, I want to share with you a concept that I have been a little obsessed with and I just shared it also at our team retreat. We just came back from our team retreat in Port Douglas and everyone on the team had to do a two-minute presentation on anything – a hobby, anything. So, my one was on kindness. My one was on this mantra that I have been playing in my head a lot lately, and that is to always respond with kindness. So, no matter what the situation is, to always respond with kindness.
The reason why is because you can really only, we have a saying here now where we say, you can only kill hate or kill grumpy behavior, or any sort of frustrated behavior. We can only get rid of that when you respond with kindness. So, when someone is screaming at you on the phone and you want to react, if you can just keep that mantra in your head and say, “respond with kindness”, and then you respond with kindness, the end that she will completely shift. That person that is screaming, it‘s really hard for that person to keep screaming at you if you respond with kindness. Or if somebody is sending you an email that is a little bit grumpy or upset, if you just quickly wait for a minute or however long it takes you to not react to that, but actually to respond with kindness, again, it will transform that relationship and the person that is emailing you will probably only be able to come back to you with kindness, too.
Or if you‘re on hold for like three hours with some telecommunication company, and then by the time you actually have someone on the phone, that person says, sorry I can‘t help you, I‘m the wrong person. Well, respond with kindness. That is probably, actually the biggest challenge is when it‘s actually really a place or a situation where all you want to do is be frustrated is to sit back, breathe and go in your head, “respond with kindness, respond with kindness.” I think It can shift a lot and it can create really beautiful situations.
