Christo:                                   Hey guys. Welcome back. Today what we want to share with you are some top books to read, so some of the top books that we like which we believe should assist you to propel your business upwards and onwards into the future. A couple of the books that we found that we got some good insights out of that have definitely helped us and we’ve seen them help a bunch of clients and people we work with. A couple of cool practical books that you could and should read we believe.

Franziska:                         If you read, hopefully you read, or you can also do the audio book.

Christo:                                   Why not?

Franziska:                         If you don’t read, you can listen to the audio book.

Christo:                                   Or have your partner read them to you.

Franziska:                         Yeah why not. Here are some that I like. One of them is called Influence by Robert Cialdini, it’s a really fantastic read, it’s got different laws in there that you can use in terms of marketing your business. You have to make sure you use them ethically.

Christo:                                   Influence, The Psychology Of Persuasion is the full title.

Franziska:                         Thank you.

Christo:                                   Just in case you, you know.

Franziska:                         Another one that I actually discovered, it only came out a few years ago and it’s called Contagious by Joan Berger. I really enjoyed reading that book because it really shows you how to create something that will spread. How to create a business, or campaign, or a product, or a service that will spread. It was a really fun read. Another one, of course, all the books that Vern Harnish writes. Vern Harnish is a really fantastic business person and he actually was on a pod cast on Basic Bananas and the latest one that he came out with, which is a really good one is called Scaling Up.

Scaling Up is just a really good book for anyone at any stage of business, if you’ve been in business for a long time, even, it’s got some really good solid principles in it. Then, the last one I want to give you is a non-fiction book. This is a book that I read when I was really young. I guess I’m still a little bit young right, i don’t know, but when I was maybe in my teens, I read this book and it had a really big impact on my life every since. It’s called The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It was just one of these books, I just read it again a few weeks ago for the second time only after maybe 15 years.

Christo:                                   You said non-fiction, this is fiction.

Franziska:                         Fiction. Sorry this is fiction. The other ones are non-fiction, one fiction book. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho has so many amazing messages in it, if you haven’t read it, do yourself a favor-

Christo:                                   Do yourself a favor.

Franziska:                         Read it.

Christo:                                   Read it. My few top picks would be Predictably Irrational by a guy called Dan Ariely. I believe everybody should read that, even if you are not running your own business. Very good for marketing and the psychology behind marketing.

Franziska:                         It’s really good.

Christo:                                   How strange we are as creatures, as humans. Also I like motivational kind of ones like Richard Branson’s biography.

Franziska:                         Let’s give Richard a little shout out here.

Christo:                                   Dickie, this one’s for you. Dickie.

Franziska:                         If you’re watching this and I’m sure you are, this is a little shout out for you.

Christo:                                   I think it’ called Like A Virgin, his biography not the business he runs. The actual biography, it’s actually quite exciting and gives you that kind of motivation to scour things out. I also like Purple Cow by Seth Godin. It’s a short, quick, easy read, but it’s just a lot about branding. We do this a lot with clients about how to create a different brand basically which stands out in the market. That’s a good read as well.

Franziska:                         Any books written by Seth Godin really that’s an amazing find.

Christo:                                   Where to start? Start with Purple Cow. Also you … Bananas About Marketing, that’s why these guys who have this amazing business called Basic Bananas-

Franziska:                         It’s a good book though.

Christo:                                   It’s a good book, Bananas About Marketing. However, where to start. Now that we’ve just piled all these books on you and now you have the next years worth of reading, 2 years, 10 years if you’re me. Where do they start?

Franziska:                         What do you mean?

Christo:                                   What’s your top one pick that they should walk away with?

Franziska:                         Aww gee. Let go, let’s go with-

Christo:                                   Just one, you can choose one, this is it.

Franziska:                         The Alchemist.

Christo:                                   Oh The Alchemist and I’d say Predictively Irrational. If you’ve got this kind of top 2, walk away with it. They’re very different styles of book too, so take away, read The Alchemist, read Predictively Irrational, and then you can move down to the rest of the list. Any other books that you would think of as super, crazy, awesome and you’d like to share with us, because we’re always on the lookout for cool books to read. Comment. Share them with us, we’d love to hear it. What are you favorite books?

Franziska:                         I love to also get some fiction books please. If you have some good fiction books, I’d love to get some more fiction books. I read a lot.

Christo:                                   If you know any book worms that are out there or in the business world, share this video with them too, spread the love.

Franziska:                         One last little secret tip, if you don’t like reading, just go to audio books, a lot of people don’t even know about this. Go to audiobooks.com, I think it is, and you can just download the audio version of the book. You can listen to the same books that we just mentioned.

Christo:                                   Yeah.

Franziska:                         I do usually both. When I’m doing something active, I listen to them and then I also read them.

Christo:                                   If you’ve read everything under the sun and everything we’ve just mentioned, then get Goodreads as an app and it will give you other suggested books in the same category.

Franziska:                         That’s it.

Christo:                                   That’s it.

Franziska:                         Thank you so much. Bye.

Christo:                                   Let’s go. Surfing time.

Franziska:                         Wait, wait, wait.

Christo:                                   Surfing time, down there. There’s waves down there. I need to get out there.

Franziska:                         Yeah, let’s get out there.
