Franziska: Hi, and welcome back to Basic Bananas TV. I’m coming live to you from my hotel room in Kuala Lumpur. I’m here for two days, filming a course with Mindvalley. Mindvalley is a fantastic organization. You should check them out if you don’t know them already. Today when I was on the shoot, I was talking about something that I get asked a lot, and that is the question of, “How do I pick my audience?” “How do I pick my market?” “How do I know who I should work with in my business?” What I did is I shared three questions that I thought I’d love to share with it with you also.

Really, it’s important for you as a business owner to pick who you want to work with, because you can. You have the power. You are the boss, so you can choose who you want to work with. I want to give you three questions. The first question to ask yourself is, “Who do you actually enjoy working with?” Who are the people that you like working with, and maybe you could even write down right now two or three names of people that you’re working that are amazing to work with. Maybe there are some commonalities in terms of the audience. Maybe they’re all men, or women, or a certain age group. The second question you can ask yourself is, “Who is already coming to you?” Who is already actually, who are you already attracting?

Again, check if there is some sort of a pattern there. Are you always attracting the same kind of audience, or is it different sort of audiences? You would be, oh, actually, I wouldn’t be very surprised if there’s a bit of a pattern, and you’re already attracting a type of market. The third question you ask yourself is, “Where can you add the most value?” Where can you have the biggest impact in your business for those people? Where do you get the best results? Again, maybe there is a market there, and when you answer those three questions, maybe write them down, and check if there is a bit of a commonality. If there is a thread, and it might help you define who you want to work with. For us here at Basic Bananas, of course, who do we enjoy working with? We love working with business owners. I could also be working corporates. My background is in Advertising. It would have been easy enough to work with corporates, but I love working with small businesses.

Who do we attract? Small businesses, and generally businesses that are between one employee or one team member, up to about ten team members, so quite small businesses. Where do I add the most value? Small businesses, because we’ve been doing this for years, almost a decade. Ask yourself the questions, the three questions I mentioned earlier, and figure out whether there is already a niche that you’re working with, or whether you might want to adjust a little bit your marketing to get more of those people, the ones that you want to work with? That’s it for me. I look forward to hearing your results on this and I can’t wait to share more. I can’t wait to share with you the course that we are producing at Mindvalley.
