Christo: So, I’m here with Casper, our intern. He’s, well, just completed his internship and we wanted to discuss the benefits, quickly with you, about the benefits for a business owner for having an intern and also benefits to a student or an intern. What benefits are to him because obviously, you know, it’s been a great experience for us and we want to share with our business owners what you can get out of having an intern for yourselves and in terms of the benefits to your business and yourself. So, let’s put him on the spot first and say hi to Casper. Let’s s understand what you think. What are the benefits to you?

Casper: I would say the main benefit on an internship for a student would be the work experience you gain.

Christo: Yup.

Casper: And, of course, the new knowledge.

Christo: Yeah.

Casper: Because I’m sure I’ll be able to apply all the knowledge I’ve just gained in the internship in the future as well.

Christo: Yeah, very cool. So, real hands-on knowledge and actual…

Casper: Practical experience.

Christo: Casper’s from the Netherlands. So he’s come all the way up to second year study.

Casper: Yeah.

Christo: Now it’s 2 years but he’s done 10 weeks with us. He has come over to Australia just to hang out with Basic Bananas. Isn’t that right? Good man. And so midway through his study, count to 10 weeks and now, yes, he has completed. He is obviously very good and efficient for us. As a business owner, because we get the experience of someone like Casper, he’s studying business and we get his expertise, his experience, it comes on-board. And it’s great especially for a lot of business owners, as they can benefit if you’re thinking about getting team members and staff on-board. And extra hands, you can get an intern to try out and it gives them a great experience, too. Because I know it can be quite difficult to find a company that will take someone on…

Casper: That’s right. One of my classmates didn’t get an internship this year so I was lucky.

Christo: Yeah, there you guys are hard to get. Get a hold of one and that’s great for the business owners, because you get to test out, you know, whether you’d like extra staff, an extra helping hand. Also, someone with experience, so you can find an intern that actually has specific skills that will benefit your business as well. What would you say as being one of the highlights.

Casper: The highlights. I think the book launch was a great evening, of course. And me being responsible for the book sales meant a lot to me.

Christo: Yeah, nice. Yeah, we brought that responsibility on Casper.

Casper: Walking around in that banana suit.

Christo: Yeah. It’s been a lot of fun. What else? What else did we put you through?

Casper: Oh I see... this time I had to go surfing. I’ll always remember that of course. I came in and said, “I’m sorry, I’m late.” And you said, “Oh, it’s not a big problem. You have to go surfing or else you get fired.”

Christo: That’s right. So, enough about punishment. We’ve been trying not to prepare you for the real world. I don’t know if that’s life out in the rest of the world but we definitely liked to go.

Casper: Great.

Christo: Casper actually just made us lunch today since it’s his last day and back to the Netherlands on Wednesday, right?

Casper: Yeah, you’re right.

Christo: Yeah, cool. And is there anything else you’d like to share? You’ll say about you?

Casper: Oh. Let’s see. I just want to say I was really lucky to work with Franziska and Christo. And I feel I really contributed to the team.

Christo: Yes, definitely. It’s been a great contribution to the team. We’ve enjoyed having him.. He’s always welcome back, he knows that. Not just the cooking lunch but honestly, you know, you’re a very valuable member to the team and it’s been awesome for us in terms of our work and productivity, of course. It’s been great. Thank you.

Casper: Thank you, too. Great.
